However, there is an important distinction:

• Recognized postgraduate medical qualification: You should check whether the specific Diploma is recognized by the relevant medical authorities and whether it is a formal PG medical qualification.

• Private/academic PG Diploma or fellowship: Many institutions offer 1–2 year diabetology programs specifically for MBBS doctors. For example, RSSDI lists a 2-year post-MBBS Advanced Certificate Course in Diabetology.

• Diploma in Diabetology: The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Mumbai lists a 2-year Diploma in Diabetology (DDIAB) with MBBS as the eligibility requirement.

• NEET-PG: Don't assume every "Diploma in Diabetology" requires NEET-PG. The admission requirement depends on the institution. For comparison, the official NBEMS Post-MBBS Diploma programs require NEET-PG, but Diabetology is not among the current NBEMS Diploma specialties.
