Basic prerequisites to becoming a pilot are mentioned below:
You must complete Class XII under the 10+2 system or its equivalent with a minimum of 50 per cent marks in maths and physics. You must be at least 16 years of age to be eligible for a Student Pilot License, 17 for a Private Pilot License, and 18 for a Commercial Pilot License. Alternatively, you could directly enroll for the Private Pilot License once you have cleared Class XII and are 17 years old. This involves taking an exam conducted by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation* consisting of theory papers on air navigation, aviation meteorology, air regulation and technical aspects. Your vision in one eye must be perfect. In general medical terminology, it is called 6/6 eyesight. In the other eye, you could have an imperfection of 6/9, which must be correctable to 6/6. General physical fitness is mandatory. You must be free of any disease that can hamper normal function. You need to complete the requisite number of hours, clear written papers and the medical examination. You need 70 percent marks to pass in each of these papers. You can keep appearing until you clear them. Note: The application form is available at all flying clubs. You can also write to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. A career as a pilot is one of the finest, exciting & most rewarding career all over the globe. Pilots fly helicopters, commercial aircraft, biplanes, bombers, rescue planes, jets and cargo planes. Pilot may be responsible for transporting commercial products, civilians, private goods, members of the military or other types of cargo. Before departing, they study the weather condition, check if the aircraft is airworthy, make sure fuel & cargo are safely loaded and confirm flight plans and navigational route. Pilots are responsible for the safety of all crew and passengers on board during the flight. In the private sector, they typically fly smaller planes such as light aircraft or jets. Salary:
In India, if one should have a flying experience of 250 hours they can work as a commercial pilot. The salary of commercial pilot is high in India. As a fresher, they can earn Rs 1.5 Lacs per month. After gaining experience, they can get Rs. 5 to 6 Lacs per month on International route. The starting salary of a private jet pilot is same as commercial pilot, but after an experience they have paid Rs. 50 Lacs per annum. If you work with the Indian Army and Indian Navy, than you can earn in between Rs. 5 Lacs to 8 lacs per year. It is a respect & honor for any pilot to work with the Indian Air Force. To be a commercial pilot abroad, one has a flying experience of 750 hours & have a basic license experience. Abroad, the salary package is double than India. In some countries, the salary is increased 3 or 4 times better than in India. Regards.
