University of Mysore does not provide BA in Journalism. It provides Post Graduate course like MA in Journalism and Mass Communication. You can apply in following colleges:

Yes, BA in Sociology helps in clearing the exam as there are some portions in GS Paper 1 which came from sociology but if you take history, geography or economics, it will be beneficial as compared to sociology.

You can go for distance learning programme from various colleges such as IGNOU, Delhi University, Amity University, and SMU, and then go for coaching classes for UPSC in Delhi or in anywhere which is easily assessable for you.

Admission Procedure-
Admission in all the courses will be based on merit.
A course wise merit list will be called for counselling,which eventually would lead to the admission.
Candidates who have appeared in the Intermediate Examination of the year 2018 and have also applied for admission in any Course of this University should submit the Marks Sheet of the qualifying examination latest by 15th July, 2018.
