With 48% marks, it would be difficult to get in a good college. You need to have 50% and above for admission.

It is not necessary to study associate of applied science before studying B.Sc applied science. However, you may need a minimum pass percentage in class 12 to apply for admission to BAS.
Please check for eligibility criteria for B.Sc applied science as mentioned below:
The basic eligibility criterion for pursuing a B.Sc (Applied Science) degree is qualifying 10+2 or equivalent examination in Science stream from a recognised board of the country. Some reputed colleges and institutes demand a minimum of 50% marks in 10+2 as qualifying criteria to secure admission in this degree course.

To be eligible for MA in political science, you need to be graduate from a recognised college /university. Eligible candidates need to appear for the Post Graduation Admission Test (PGAT) conducted by the college.

You are eligible for the exam as the minimum eligibility is class 12th. So, 12th appearing students can apply for the exam. Don't worry about the eligibility, just prepare for the exam.

There are many courses which you can pursue after B.A. To get a good job but all you need to do is a lot of hard work. You can find a number of opportunities after completing MBA. You can also go for a B.Ed degree and B.Ed degree aids in being appointed as a school teacher, nowadays, candidates also have to appear and clear for TET (Teachers Eligibility Test) to become a teacher in government schools.
You can also LL.B. After B.A. Graduates and become practicing lawyers.

While I cannot tell you if its worth or not to pursue BA because I myself am a student. But I can tell you that people choose to do BA in subjects like history, political science, economics or even philosophy alongside their preparation for the exams. I think these subjects may help give you a broader perspective into the subjects, however, it depends upon your caliber and choice; if you wish to prepare full time or not. But since you have to have a degree in order to be eligible, I think, BA is a good choice.
