As of February 2025, students who have finished their first year at another university are not eligible for lateral entrance into the second year of the Indira Gandhi National Open University's (IGNOU) Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) program. Generally speaking IGNOU's lateral entry policies are restricted to particular programs. For example, individuals with an IGNOU Diploma in Retailing (DIR) can enroll straight in the second year of the Bachelor of Business Administration (Retailing) program.
