Refer to basic English books, browse through the topics mentioned above and try attempting exercises related to each topic. Take some online tests. There are many English tests available online that will help you judge where you stand
Part - B - General Knowledge & Teaching Aptitude
Preparation tips:
For General Knowledge, you can start following the daily news on television and by regularly reading the newspaper. You can refer to different General Knowledge books. Part- C
The syllabus will be of graduation level for subjects - Mathematics, Physical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry), Biological Sciences (Botany and Zoology), Social Studies (Geography, History, Civics and Economics). For English, the syllabus will be of graduation level and will also include topics like Language functions, Elements of Phonetics, Grammar, Phrasal Verbs (idioms), Writing skills, Study skills and Reference skills. Preparation tips:
Understand the syllabus properly and start preparing accordingly
Make a routine and stick to it, such that you are able to prepare for all the topics
Refer to past question papers and try to solve them as much as possible. This way you will know what to expect in the exam.

The only way you can truly understand and master the electronics and communication field is through practical work. Basics of electronics should be clear (first couple year's curriculum). I guarantee you'll face difficulties later on if you're not clear with basics. Start working on the latest techs of the field as soon as you can. With the pace that the technology is advancing, it is highly probable that you'll be taught something that has been replaced half a decade ago. (I was studying analog TV). To know what techs to choose, contact your final year seniors and alumni. Pick a faculty or two and make their professional life a nightmare. Ask for help on projects, career advice, doubts and everything you need help on. He/she won't mind it if he/she is really interested in mentoring students, which they will be (ideally). ECE is a field where the job possibilities are really uncertain. Make sure you have a targeted approach through your 4 years and stand out in at least one of the fields, be it VLSI design/Embedded/Communication. Whatever you find yourself interested in, pursue it with all your heart. Personal Advice: If you're really passionate about your field by the time you appear for placements, DO NOT opt out and join IT firms. Things will work out later, if not sooner.
