It is easy to get a direct admission to B.Sc Biotechnology course. The eligibility criteria for B.Sc at various colleges vary. Some may ask for an entrance exam whereas the others won't. Thus, you can get admission to B.Sc on the merit basis, without any entrance exam. It is to be noted that direct admission is subjective to the college you are opting admission into.

Taking your concern, I think you want to pursue your career in biotechnology. If so SVIMS would be a great choice. As per students review the biotechnology course in SVIMS is better than other life Science courses. In biotechnology the placement rate is quite higher than others. Beside this the faculty in biotechnology are also very good.

Talking about the life sciences courses offered by SVIMS are great to opt for. The above said two courses in UG are great to take but as per students review the B.Sc Biotechnology have a edge on the comparison to B.Sc Microbiology. The placements are also decent according to the official data. I'd consider chose any of these courses  as per your interest rather than comparing the placement data.
