B.Sc Chemistry

Before choosing any of the streams, first of all, know about your interest and passion. When it comes to B.Sc in any subject, it's of no importance without doing M.Sc and Ph.D. in that particular subject in today's scenario. Being a biotechnology student, I can explain to you in the easiest way.
B.Sc in Biotechnology: It's completely a research-oriented field and it has various application in industries, pharma sector, research labs, etc. But to be frank, there is no scope in doing B.Sc in Biotechnology. I know its bitter to hear but that's the reality of the private sector. This field is completely saturated and today its completely lacking funds for research and development hence You have to pursue Ph.D. in biotechnology in order to get a good amount of salary and satisfactory life. It will minimum take 9 years 3 years B.Sc. 2 years M.Sc. And 5 years Ph.D. to get a good salary package of 6-7 Lacs per annum whereas when u start doing the job after M.Sc. Your starting package is approximately 2.5-3.5 max to max per annum. Whereas when we talk about B.Sc in Chemistry, it's a field which is facing direct competition from B.Pharm, M.Pharm and B.Tech Chemical engineering. Hence the scenario would be same in both the cases whether you take Chemistry or Biotechnology for getting good pay scale u need to do Ph.D. Although, Biotechnology is a better field than chemistry because biotech has wider scopes in industries hospitals as well as in academics and research whereas chemistry is limited to academics only so if u have to choose between B.Sc Biotechnology or B.Sc. Chemistry than it would be better to go for B.Sc. Biotechnology. But if u have an option and u are interested in chemistry then you better go for B.Pharm, it has better scopes and opportunity. Choose wisely and think before you choose your career.
