However, BSc Physician Assistant course is offered by several reputed universities and institutions in India, and it is approved by the respective state health universities or affiliating bodies under UGC (University Grants Commission) guidelines. 

The National Medical Commission (NMC), which replaced the MCI, focuses on regulating medical practitioners, whereas the Physician Assistant course falls under paramedical education, which is governed by state councils or health education boards. Therefore, while PAs play an important role in healthcare, they do not fall under the purview of MCI/NMC.
