The Electrical Engineering subjects for a BTech degree includes both core as well as elective subjects. The core subjects are mandatory for all the students to study in all the 8 semesters as they give you the foundational knowledge important to excel in the field in the future.
Talking about the elective subject choices, you do have some scope of customization there as you can pick the subjects as per your interests and understanding, the ones you find easy-going and fun to study and something you would like to take forward in your career. There is no fixed time duration for preparation of BTech Electrical Engineering entrance exam but usually it is better if you start at least 6 to 8 months before final date of exam. This will give you enough time for covering entire exam syllabus and revise each section that will help you get excellent marks and increase your chances of admission.

Apart from the BTech Electrical Engineering tuition fee that is approximately between INR 2 lakh and INR 15 lakh, there are extra charges as well that apply. Almost all of the popular colleges will ask you for a hostel accommodation fee if you're staying in the college hostel, an application fee at the time of admission, a semester exam fee, a lab fee, and other extra-curricular charges that may apply.
You should carefully go through the BTech EE course fee structure at your desired colleges by visiting their college websites before taking the final call for admission.

Considering the present day scenario where almost everything runs on AI and digital applications, the admission application process is held online for a majority of the BTech Electrical Engineering colleges in India. You can simply fill in all the details in the online form and upload the copies of the docs from the comfort of your homes. You must keep an eye on all the admission-related notifications of the colleges you're targeting.
Having said that, a few colleges may still follow the old pattern of offline application process for which you should go to the college websites of your desired colleges and carefully read their admission

Almost all of the BTech Electrical Engg. colleges in India give some sort of marks relaxation to students belonging to the SC/ST/OBC categories at the time of admission. The relaxation is usually of 5% marks. To avail this option, you must have a valid reserved category certificate, which you will have to submit at the time of final admission and also upload a copy of the same during the application process.

For admission to BTech Electrical Engg. course, most of the top colleges consider valid entrance exam scores where you need to get excellent marks and rank. The top IITs, NITs, and IIITs give you admission strictly on the basis of entrance test marks.
Having said that, there are more than 3,000 BTech EE colleges in India that admit students on the basis of marks secured in Class 12 board exams. Those colleges mostly take extra rounds like the GD or PI after entrance exam results to test the applicants.

There are a lot of academic institutions in India that provide merit-based admission to the BTech EE course. These colleges mostly conduct additional rounds like the GD or PI round to test the capability of the applicants.
If you have already chosen the Electrical Engineering colleges where you want to study the course, you can simply visit their official websites to check whether they offer merit-based admission or not. Since most of the popular institutes, like the IITs and the NITs, need valid entrance test marks, it is better if you work hard and appear for the entrance exam to have at least one backup option with you.
