Most engineering colleges in Maharashtra charge around Rs. 80,000 - 1 lakh per year. Top institutes charge between the range of Rs 1.5 - 2.8 lakhs per year.
The course fee for B.Tech in Maharashtra is comparatively higher than any other undergraduate course due to its technical nature and reputation.

No, SRM is not as expensive as Manipal and overall its better institute than Manipal University. Also, the placements in SRM are good.

The total fee for first year for B.Tech CSE is about Rs 1,98,000/. The Hostel fee is about Rs 1,00,300/ for double bedded AC room and Rs 63,000/ for Non-AC double bedded. The Mess charges are Rs 53,300 (Veg), Rs 59,300 (Non veg) and Rs 67,900 for special.

Yes, you can pursue marine engineering after Diploma in mechanical. Candidates who have completed a Diploma in any stream of Engineering (Marine, Mechanical and Electrical) with 55-60% in final year can join the B.Tech. Course from the 2nd year as part of the Lateral Entry scheme.
