There are many good engineering colleges in North India. You can go for Delhi Technical University (DTU), Indraprastha University (IPU), Punjab Engineering College (PEC), UIET Chandigarh and there are also few NITs and IITs in north India too!

It's true that nowadays a lot of engineers are jobless but most of them are mechanical and civil for which job are little low in India but i still say that engineering is a good choice if you select the right branch which suits your interests and in india CS and IT branches have growing scope due yo growing IT sector and i think it will be good even after 4 years.

Yes, Masters will definitely provide more opportunities over graduation and will be helpful in spreading the area of job search, if it is done from a reputed institution. GATE is a platform which can open lot of opportunities in government PSUs and higher studies for you. So if you are planning about Masters then crack this with a good score.

Hello Rakesh, It is very nice and good to know that you are interested in doing either M.Tech or MS abroad after completion of the B.Tech in India. M.Tech will keep you updated and in your core area of competency even as you are in employment. On the other hand MS will slightly take you away from this core area. See, the top government colleges are the IITs and then NITs but in the private sector, top colleges are BITS Pilani, VIT Vellore and SRM Chennai.
