Its not necessary but can be matter. Colleges located in big cities have excellent infrastructure, faculty members and placement opportunities. Like VIT have its four campuses I. e Vellore, Chennai, Andhra Pradesh and Bhopal. Out of these four the Vellore is the highly preferred college in placements. Another example is like IIT-M, IIT-D and IIT-Madras are the first choice of companies in placements.
