For NIRMA Institute the cut-offs are generally above 90% and experience is also counted in years not just months. See the link below. To score within the 80 percentile on the CAT you'll need a scaled score of 91 (out of a maximum of 300). No, a 3rd-year student is not considered to be eligible for appearing GATE. Previously, it was allowed even for a 3rd-year student to give the GATE exam. But, from the year 2012 onwards, the third-year students are restricted to give the GATE exam. But the scorecard is still valid for two years.
