Yes a BDS graduate is a doctor but they are a specialist doctor specifically for the mouth, teeth and jaw. But they are different from those doctors who precribe medicines for general illness.
Doctors study human anatomy and medicine for 5 years (including an internship) and they have the license to treat patients, perform surgeries and also prescribe medication.
But Dentists specializes in teeth and oral health.

Veterinary Medicine involves the study and practice of medical care for animals, including pets, livestock, and wildlife. On the other hand, BDS is a dental undergraduate programme that prepares students to become dentists. Dentists focus on diagnosing and treating oral health issues in humans.
If candidates are more interested in working with animals and animal health, then a Veterinary course is the better choice. If they are passionate about oral health and enjoy working with people, then BDS might be the right path for them.
