Dear Riddhima,
Medical and Biotechnology though related due to some similar subjects are very different courses. The job profile after completing these courses is also different.
Job prospects after biotechnology have increased now as compared to job prospects that existed some years back. What I recommend is that you choose a course based on your aptitude and interest. That will be beneficial to you in the long run. So you can get career counselling done from a good counsellor. That will give you a clarity about your decision.

Biotechnology is a branch where technology is combined with Biology for Research & Development. Biotechnology involves wide range of subjects such as Engineering, Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Chemistry. There are various applications of Biotechnology in fields such as animal husbandry, growth of vaccines and medicines, agriculture, pollution control, energy production and conservation, healing of prolonged disease and ecological conservation. It also helps in development of insecticides, fertilizers and quality of seeds.

Hi Jaswanthi,
The basic eligibility criteria for admission into bachelor's degree is, higher secondary school certificate (10+2) examination with science subject such as biology/ maths, physics and chemistry. For admissions into the IITs, the student has to clear the Joint Entrance Examinations (J.E.E). The duration for the course is 4 years.
