According to GradReports, Boston College was ranked in the top five in the nation in five undergraduate majors: Accounting (4), Communication (3), Marketing (3), Philosophy (4), and Sociology (4). To be considered for admission to Boston College, international students must achieve a minimum score of 100 on the TOEFL iBT and TOEFL iBT Home Edition tests. The minimum required scores for other language tests are as follows:
IELTS: 7.5
PTE: 68
Boston College does not accept the TOEFL MyBest score or the Duolingo English Test. The university has adopted a test-optional policy for first-year applicants to the Classes of 2027.

Boston University offers merit-based scholarships such as the Trustee Scholarship and the Presidential Scholarship to international students. There are external scholarships available to Indian students, such as the Higher Education Scholarship Test for Indian Students (HEST 2024). Through the Gabelli Presidential Scholars Programme, new freshmen can apply for scholarships to Boston College. As long as they meet the November 1 priority scholarship deadline, candidates for the Presidential Scholarship will be considered for both the Regular Decision and Early Decision categories.

At Boston College, the number of foreign students has somewhat increased. For the academic year, the total number of international undergraduate and graduate students increased by 5% over the previous year to 1,827. The total international student population, including students working in their field of study after graduation, faculty, research scholars, and dependents, stands at 2,595, constituting nearly half of BC’s entire international student population. The top five countries represented among the international students are China, South Korea, India, Spain, and Italy.

The on-campus part-time jobs available at Boston College for international students include library monitor, teaching assistant, tour guide, peer tutor, academic department assistant, production assistant, campus tech support, university bookstore assistant, barista, babysitter, and sales job. Students can also pursue off-campus part-time jobs in sectors such as retail, food service, and other on-location commercial firms that provide services for students on campus, such as the school bookstore or cafeteria.
