Yes, the college provides placement support for BTech students. As per the 2024 report, the college recorded the highest package of INR 6 LPA. The lowest package offered was INR 2 LPA. College may conduct placement drives every year for all course students.      

Students have to register on the official REAP website for counselling. The application fee is INR 590. Students can participate in the counselling process through the official website.

Seats in the course are allotted through REAP counselling process. Registrations for counselling are started in last week of May. The application deadline is in July last week. Students can register through the official college website.

Cutoff required for BTech at SDM Institute of Technology varies according to course specialisation. KCET round 3 closing rank (general) ranged from 138284 for B.E. Civil to 246747 for B.E. ECE in 2025. The institute is yet to release cutoff for 2026.

IIIT Pune BTech students are taught Engineering Mathematics-I, Basic Electronics Engineering, Foundations of Computer Science, Computer Programming Concept & Practice, and several other subjects.

MIT CSE: The highest package offered to MIT CSE students in 2025 was INR 69.25 LPA. 

Looking at just placement data, one can't say which is better. In the end, it depends on students what is best for them. 

Mode of payment for fee for BTech programme for Management quota is Demand Draft in favour of Principal, SDMCET, Dharwad. For COMEDK quota, only part of the total fee has to be paid directly to the college.
