All the overseas students applying to the University of San Francisco must fulfill certain admission requirements in order to secure a spot in the university for their higher studies. These requirements comprise of:

• Application: Completed online application along with $55 application fee;
• High school transcripts: USF accepts unofficial transcripts as long as they are in PDF format and clearly show the candidate's full name, school's name, courses, and thei grades. Unreadable or illegible PDF documents will not be accepted at USF. If the candidate is admitted to USF and they choose to enroll, they’ll be asked to provide their official final transcript;
• Bachelor's and/or Masters' degrees from a regionally accredited institution: Candidates must provide a background of academic preparation and/or professional experience that demonstrates their ability to pursue graduate level programs;
• GPA requirements: Recommended GPA of 2.75 for MA and Credential applicants and recommended GPA of 3.0 from a graduate programme for Doctoral applicants;
• SAT/ACT scores: These standardized exam scores are not necessary for undergraduates;
• English proficiency exam scores: USF accepts all major English language exam scores from international student, ie; TOEFL, IELTS and Duolingo;
• Fall senior grades: If the candidate is applying Early Decision or Early Action and their application is deferred to Regular Decision, they will be required to submit their grades from their fall semester. If they’re applying Regular Decision, their fall senior grades aren’t required, but they are highly recommended;
• Extracurricular activities: Candidates must describe what they do outside of academics and how they're involved in their community;
• Academic requirements:
• English - 4 years
• Mathematics - 3 years
  • Engineering applicants are required to have completed precalculus
• Social Sciences: 3 years
• Lab Sciences: 2 years
  • Nursing applicants are required to have completed chemistry prior to applying for admission.
  • Biology or Physics (Only one of these courses needs to be completed. It will not increase your chances of being admitted if you have completed both.)
• Foreign Language: 2 years

At the University of San Francisco, if English is the candidate's native language or if the majority of their education has not been taught in English, they are required to submit a proof of their English proficiency as part of their application. USF accepts official results TOEFL,  IELTS and Duolingo. However, if the candidate can fulfill any condition listed below, they do not need to submit their English language proficiency (ELP) scores:

At the University of San Francisco, students can apply to the university either through Common Application, USF's Direct Application or the Coalition Application on the university's website and a non-refundable sum of $55 application fee is required at this institution.
