First learn the basics of aptitude. For building the concepts, RS Aggarwal is a book that you can refer to because CAT is all about knowing the concepts. Also, Arun Sharma's books contain all the CAT concepts and you can solve previous year's question papers for its preparation.

One should do MBA only from any of the top 50 B-Schools for long-term career growth. Therefore, lots of students drop one or two years to prepare for CAT to get admission in best B-Schools. For preparing CAT 2017 start practising with basic Quant. questions, you can refer books like Arun Sharma, Trishna. For verbal you need to read newspaper articles daily, practice more on jumbled sentences/para completion. DI-LR again needs practice.
For initial two months start preparing yourself with each week dedicating to a particular section and try to cover the maximum syllabus. After gaining confidence join a good test series and improve on weak topics. You need to utilise your time cautiously.

You need to focus more on quantitative part of CAT. You can refer some good books of Quant like R.S.Aggrawal, Arun Sharma. If you want to start from basics you can refer maths books of 9-10. You can join a coaching institute as you will get proper guidance with regular evaluation.
