That depends in which college or institution you want to take admission and which year 2016 or 2017. Though many institution accept only cat others do accept mat , GMAT , cmat and even some institution having own test for admission.
Firstly make list in which divide the institutions into three level A B and c according your interest and their reputation.

There is no fixed percentile level (upper and lower) for both general and other categories. It is subjective for IIM Shillong as your academic background, 10th, 12th and graduation scores, work experience, diversity that you bring to the batch etc. factors are also given considerable importance.

Once the CAT percentile results are declared, every college releases its criteria of shortlisting and weightage that it gives to academics, work experience, etc. Different colleges have different weightages but most colleges give weightage to class 12th, 10th and graduation marks during final selection.
