Anil, not much if you do your B.Tech from a good institute. But then it always is a gamble. What if you don't score good and don't get a good college. So, I would advice that don't waste two years instead take admission in whatever college comes your way and make max.of it.
In case your JEE score doesn't let you take admission or you din't give JEE, then try for admission in some good private universities that are imparting quality education to the students around the world. They offer you admission on JEE scores/ tests conducted by them/ your marks in 12th. Some of these also offer good scholarships based on any one of the above mentioned admission criteria.
