A career aftercivil engineeringis highly rewarding. There are jobs that involve supervision, construction, design and analyzes of private as well as public projects, such as dams, highways, canals, water sewages and bridges. The profession demands excellent skills for both administration and supervision of projects. The point that comes to my mind is Business. Civil engineering is a very diverse field. Many people open their own companies in field of construction or so and they require a lot more management skills that's why they prefer MBA. Construction project management is one which is inclined towards MBA.

Jaya, it totally depends on your interest, like you have interest in teaching, or job or owing your own business.
If you want to own business, you must have to gain experience, so that you can do it properly, or if you want a start up without experience, that will also be fine.
Better is to do an internship or partnership and look what are the ups and downs. Then when you are fully prepared, you can own your business and definitely can reach heights.
Take contracts. Don't think weather it is small or big contract, this will help you out.
There are still more opportunities beside this.

A branch being good or bad, entirely dependent on your choice. No career is good for you, until you have passion for it. Whereas, placement in computer science totally rely on passion for new comers, who have love for coding and have logical and analytical thinking. Whereas, civil is good for people having interest in field and site work and construction of various structures.
