Indian Coast Guard Navik Eligibility Criteria
Age: The age limit for the posts is between 18 and 22 years. Students must have been born between September 1, 2001, to August 31, 2005. However, Relaxation in the upper age limit of 5 years (SC or ST) and 3 years (OBC- on-creamy) are provided to students. Educational Qualification:
Navik (General Duty): Students must have Passed Class 10+2 with Maths and Physics from an education board recognised by COBSE (Council of Boards for School Education)

Indian Coast Guard Recruitment Exam is conducted for the students who desire to join Indian Coast Guard as Yantrik, Navik, or Assistant Commandant. ICG holds various national-level recruitment exams every year for these posts. The recruitments are solely based on merit, as there is no backdoor entry for ICG recruitment. Students must meet prescribed eligibility parameters to apply for these exams. ICG notifications for these exams are released on the official website of the ICG, the rest of the processes are also conducted online. However, the exams are conducted offline. The Indian Coast Guard recently released a recruitment announcement for the Group A Gazetted Officer position of Assistant Commandant. In accordance with the number of openings for the position, candidates are chosen for the position of Assistant Commandant (Law) based on their performance in the PSB and FSB. Candidates applying for the law branch are exempted from the screening test portion of Stage I of the Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Selection Procedure (CGCAT), according to the Indian Coast Guard's official website. The stages of CGCAT (law entry) are as follows:
Preliminary Selection Board (Stage II) -
Candidates will be evaluated using the Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PPDT) and the Computerized Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT). The board of assessors (IO, GTO, and TO) recommends the candidates to the final selection board based on the combined grades of the CCBT and PPDT (FSB). Stage-III ( Final Selection Board) -
It is the same as the Selection Board (SSB) of other services. Medical Examination (Stage IV) -
Only those candidates who are declared fit by the SMB will be considered for final merit list.
