The Institute of Textile Technology, Choudwar, Cuttack, is a government-run diploma engineering or polytechnic established in 1983 to develop the textile manpower of Odissa to satisfy the huge demand for manpower in textile industries and to increase the textile technical knowledge of new youth for those growing industries.
The Institute of Textile Technology was founded in 1983 by the Department of Industries to provide only a three-year diploma in engineering in Textile Technology of Odissa. At present, it is under the Skill Development and Technical Education(SD&TE) department. Firstly, it was started to improve the manpower ability of the students and people of Odissa working in textile industries. Then again, in 2007, it added Electronics, Telecommunication, and Mechanical Engineering to its curriculum. It is now one of the leading government organizations. operated by the Orissa Institution.
Candidates must have passed the 10th standard examination from a recognized board of education with at least 35 percent of the marks in ITI or 10+2 science students are eligible for direct entry for 2 years (10 percent of seats are reserved for ITI and 10+2 science students).
The duration of the course is 3 years.
