As an international student, the Free University of Berlin admission requirements are required to be met. For FU Berlin, you would need at least 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Its a little competitive to get admission here though.
Along with a good GPA, the students shoudl have -
- A UG degree
- German language proficiency for UG courses
- English language proficiency
- An application at Uni-Assist

According to unofficial sources, the Free University of Berlin acceptance rate, is 15%, which shows the university is quite competitive in terms of admissions.
International applicants are required to meet the admission requirements like -
- A recognised entrance qualification
- Language tests like German C1 for some courses
- English language proficiency exam for English-taught programs
- Really good academic scores
- Academic credits (at least 180 ECTS) etc.

Yes, the Free University of Berlin is free for all international students. For all UG courses at this institution, the tuition is zero but for some postgraduate courses, the students might have to pay upto INR 9.73 L. Look at the table given below for UG and PG fee -

The DAAD prize is given to outstanding international students who have distinguished themselves not through exceptional academic achievements but via remarkable and social and intercultural commitment.
