The merit scholarships of the University of Hamburg is given to international students if:
- You are enrolled in your subject at the University of Hamburg for at least 2 semesters and pursuing a degree
- You do not hold German citizenship, i.e., an international student
- You are not eligible for the federal student loan scheme
While applying for this scholarship, international students are required to submit the following documents:
- CV/Resume
- Letter of motivation
- Proof of social and/or intercultural activities (if applicable)

Cut off are differant when it comes to other categories or female candidates and even domicile of home state. In All India, opening and closing rank for female candidates was 9719 and 10371.
