Like most German universities, KIT mandates the submission of the proof of one's German language proficiency. Undergraduate students can submit a German language certificate to prove the same. The university will accept DSH2, Test DaF 4444, DSD 2 of German schools abroad, German Language Test, Goethe Certificate C2, Deutsch C1 Hochschule.

KIT acceptance rate is just 26% meaning that out of every 100 students who apply to the uni about 26 are likely to be offered the opportunity to enroll on the Utrecth campus making the admission criteria of the university very selective

When it comes to the headcount for WS 2023/24, the university was home to 22,800 students, including 12,400 undergraduate students and 8,000 graduate students.
