There is no donation fee here. Let me explain you the system. The system is very simple, for a particular branch there are few seats (Eg. 250 seats) in first category. First category could be understood as the seats given to the merit holders of VITEEE. The fees here is minimum and actually very cheap. Generally, VITEEE rank holders up to 20K can only contest for these seats. Then there is category 2 which again comprises of 230 seats and in this category, the fee is little high (you may say it includes donations in the fee). So, your fee for category two will be more for every branch and generally students over 20K rank contest test for these seats. When category 2 gets full rank wise, category 3 will be open and one can go and take a seat if her/his rank permits.

VIT is one of the best university if you are planning to go outside India. There are a lot of opportunities at VIT, but at the same time, we have that much competition. The college and hostel rules are strict. The Vellore campus is beautiful, you definitely will love the campus.
If you talk about placements both the college's are equally good. In VIT, you will definitely get a job offer, irrespective of the performance. If you are a bright student, you get a good job offer here as you will get in SVNIT.
Talking about mess and hostel conditions both SVNIT and VIT gives you good facility. You do get north Indian food and South Indian food separately in VIT messes. The crowd inside the VIT campus is a mixture of students from all parts of India. But if you go outside, you might face small problems with the locals.
VIT is “ a place to learn a chance to grow.” if you are keen and interested in anything, VIT gives you the opportunity to excel in that.

I think VIT University would be the best option among KIIT SRM. Placements are relatively very good for a campus that is just 10 years old. Being a Computer Science student, the average package for this subject was 16 lakhs per annum for CS. All the students who SAT for placements (some students go for higher studies) got decent jobs. Considering the fact that they take around 15 lac fees for the complete 4 year course, the placements offered are decent but not at par with some of the leading IITs such as Bombay, Delhi and Kanpur. Big companies that offer majority of the placements for CS students are Amazon, Flipkart, Microsoft, Direct I, Ebay, Zomato, SAP, Nutanix, etc. The highest package offered on campus for placement in India was 35 lakhs per annum by Nutanix.
