In 1st semester, you have Indian classical and European classical literature. To get background of English literature and different time periods you can refer to the OXFORD history of English literature and to get used to the basic terms use glossary of Literary terms by M. H Abrams. For the text prescribed, you can visit project Gutenberg YOU will find most of the texts there. We read Abhijnana Shakuntalam by Kalidas translated by Arthur W Ryder, Homer's Iliad translated by Alexander Pope and satires by Horace, all available on project Gutenberg.

Hello Sai, IIT JAM exam is organized for the selection of candidates for M.Sc. Integrated M.Sc-PhD and other PG Programs. As you have completed the Masters degree in mathematics, you should apply for CSIR NET exam to be eligible for Ph.D. Admission into top institutes. The CSIR NET exam is held twice a year for the selection of candidates for lectureship and JRF. After qualifying the exam, you will be eligible for the higher education, like Ph.D. exam. The minimum qualification for the CSIR NET exam is post graduation degree. As you have completed M.Sc. In mathematics, you can apply for the CSIR NET Mathematics subject. The candidates are allowed to apply for their master's subject or its related subject only. There is no age limit criteria for NET lectureship but for CSIR NET JRF or Ph.D. you age must be below 28 years. Hope it will help you. All the best!
