Design Entrance Exam

At IIAD, we are looking for students who have a creative and visual aptitude and are passionate about solving problems and innovation solutions for our increasingly complex world, using Design Skills and Design Thinking. A portfolio is not the mandatory or only criteria for admission. However, if you do have a portfolio or have started making one, the following are some points that you should keep in mind:
1. A portfolio is a sum total of your creative output over the years and should reflect that. What it means is that your portfolio is not just about what you have created in the last six months or three months but goes back as far as you can remember. It may be a drawing you made in Class IV or a model or project you made in Class IX or a card you made for your parents/family/anyone anytime.
2. Secondly, a portfolio is not only about drawing and sketching, but any interesting work that you may want to share with us. It could be a photograph you have taken, a dance that you may have performed or choreographed, a story or an essay that you may have written etc. Or anything else for that matter that reflects you as a person.
3. A portfolio can be in the form of a bounded book or folio, a Digital film, a PowerPoint presentation or a photo album or anything that truly reflects who you are.
4. We look at a portfolio to understand you as a person and not to rate your drawing and sketching skills. Candidates applying for Bachelor Programmes of NIFT should arrange to send SAT scores directly from
College Board, USA, to NIFT H. O. New Delhi. SAT scores have to be submitted through College Board to
NIFT before 30th April, 2018. The Designated Institution (DI) Code is 7258. The Campus and Programme will be allotted to the candidates based on SAT/GMAT/GRE score as well as
the preference of the candidate. Candidates at the time of registration for SAT should indicate DI code: 7258 for sending their scores to
NIFT Head Office, New Delhi. Candidates applying for Master Programmes I. e. Master of Fashion Management (MFM), should arrange
to send GMAT test scores while those applying for Master of Design (M. Des. ) and Master of Fashion
Technology (M. FTech. ) should arrange to send GRE test scores directly to NIFT H. O. Delhi. The GRE/
GMAT/SAT scores should not have been declared before the given date and should be received by
the Institute before deadline. The candidates must designate NIFT Programmes as choice in the
GRE/GMAT/SAT. Candidates seeking admission under this category should apply in the prescribed Application Form online. Foreign Nationals / SAARC / NRI
Fifteen percent (15%) of total seats I. e. 5 seats in each programme at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Gandhinagar, Raebareli and Srinagar are reserved for admission of
Foreign Nationals (whether residing in India or abroad) and Non Resident Indian, who are citizens of
India holding an Indian passport and have temporarily immigrated to another country for six months or
more for work, residence or any other purpose. The admission to NIFT programmes for foreign nationals
/ NRI candidates will be based on the following examinations:
Bachelor Programme (B. Des & B. FTech)
SAT Score
Master Programme (MFM)
GMAT Score
Master Programme (M. Des & M. FTech)
GRE Score
Campus / Programme will be allotted on the basis of merit list drawn as per the scores obtained by the
