No, maths is not mandatory in 12th to do BA (Hons) economics. You can join BA economics without maths in your 12th.

I hope the question meant 'in Delhi University'. Please correct me if wrong. You must have studied maths in class 12th to be eligible for B.A. Economics in the university. Maths, however, need not be included in the best of four.

A graduate in Economics can expect many entry-level jobs in banking, finance, insurance, stock markets, sales and marketing as well as corporations like consulting firms or government departments.
They can also begin their career with government enterprises, public undertakings, investment firms, business journals and newspapers.

Let me start by telling you a little on what Economics is all about and how is it linked with Math and Statistics.
Economics is a social science. What makes it different is its use of maths and statistics to prove theories and concepts while still incorporating other subjects, such as politics, philosophy and geography. It is basically a statistical data which needs computing to get results.
Thus to study Economics at the Undergraduate level math is compulsory.
