KCET is only for Karnataka domicile students — so students from other states cannot apply for KCET unless they have studied in Karnataka for a minimum number of years (usually Classes 6–10 or 11–12 in a Karnataka school).

COMEDK UGET, on the other hand, is open to all students across India, regardless of which state they are from — it is specifically designed for non-Karnataka and out-of-state students to get into top private engineering colleges in Karnataka like RVCE, BMSCE, MSRIT, and MIT Manipal.

The scholarship slab system at private engineering colleges in Karnataka works on the better your rank, the lower your fees. There are 3 fee levels to begin with: KCET students pay the least, COMEDK students pay more, and Management quota students pay the most. On top of this, top colleges like RVCE, BMSCE, and MSRIT offer merit scholarships to COMEDK top-rankers (usually under rank 500), covering 25% to 100% of tuition fees, renewed every year based on academic performance.

With a 1145 rank, you may have a good chance of getting a CSE seed depending on the college, category reservation, and cutoff trends of that year. It also depends on how many counselling grounds are conducted, I would suggest participating in all counselling round because many students get seats in letter rounds as well. Keep backup branches and colleges ready too so that you have more option during admission

If you are considering two choices: B.Tech CSE and B.Tech (Hons.) The Lovely Professional University (LPU) is one of the good news, as placement opportunities are nearly equivalent for both. Companies normally permit pupils aged from B.Tech CSE and B.Tech (Hons.) Graduates of CSE to attend placement drives and the recruiters will judge you based on your skills of coding, projects, internships, communication and problem solving skills rather than just getting the name of the degree.

The main difference is that B.Tech (Hons.) involves more specialist subjects, research experience and work related training as well as extra academic credits
