Both mining and petroleum engineering are good and depend on your interests. But in the end, you have to choose the one with better career prospects. 
 
Based on that criterion, I think Petroleum Engineering is better than Mining Engineering. The reason why because it has better job and growth options. Mining Engineering has a limited scope to grow.
 
The field of Energy and Petroleum Engineering is growing each day.

It's vast. You can join plenty of fields from government and private worldwide. The energy, manufacturing, education, and research fields have a high demand for Petroleum Engineering students. 

Giants like Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum (BPCL), Reliance Industries (RIL), NTPC, TATA Power, and POWERGRID in India have limitless options for you.

In other countries, Saudi Aramco, ExxonMobil, Siemens Energy, ConocoPhillips, Shell (SHEL), and so on, options are available.

AIT Pune offers B.E. courses at the UG level. For UG level courses students need minimum of 45% in Class 12 or equivalent in Science Stream. AIT admission is based on the All India Ranking in JEE (Main) and some weightage is given for wards of disabled Soldiers, War Widows and Gallantry Award winners.

The fee structure varies for different courses based on the stream, level & duration of the courses. Add on fees like that of hostels can also be included in the yearly fee structure if one opts for it. Once the admission cycle starts for any course, the college will give all the information about the fee structure on its official page.

Army Institute of Technology Pune is one of the top colleges in India in the field of Engineering. It is accredited by NAAC with a Grade 'A'. In 2025 the college got an overall rank of NIRF #201-300 in the Engineering category. B.E. courses are the most popular among the students. The faculty for these courses are well experienced & trained. The placement cell is highly active and several internships & placement opportunities are provided to the students. Overall AIT Pune is good college to do B.E courses.

As per AICTE norms, the faculty-student ratio in Jaipur Engineering College is 1:20. The college strictly follows this norm so that each student is given adequate attention by the teacher during the classes.

There is no strict branch-wise cut off for BTech in Jaipur Engineering College. The admissions to BTech are given based upon the merit list. If his/her rank is lower, a student can apply for the waiting list by depositing INR 15,000. The vacant seats are filled from the waiting list.

Jaipur Engineering College has not been given any rank by NIRF. But it has shown a improvement in its India Today rank. It was ranked 90 in 2024 which improved to 83 in 2025.
