No, the JEE Main exam on April 5, 2026, was not cancelled. However, it was officially rescheduled for certain candidates.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) allowed students to request a change of date because April 5 coincided with Easter Sunday. Following representations from students and religious communities, the Union Government approved a provision for affected candidates to opt for an alternate exam date within the Session 2 window (April 2 to April 9, 2026).

With a 98.35 percentile in JEE Main, you are in a very strong position. This score generally corresponds to an All India Rank (AIR) between 18,000 and 22,000, which opens doors to several prestigious National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).
1. Top NIT Options (Other State Quota)
While Computer Science (CSE) at the top 5 NITs (like Trichy or Warangal) might be difficult for the General category, you have excellent chances for CSE in mid-tier NITs and core branches in elite NITs:
CSE / IT / AI-DS:
NIT Patna
Raipur
NIT Hamirpur

Yes, you can absolutely apply for the GITAM Admission Test (GAT) even if your JEE Main or EAMCET scores are low. In fact, that is exactly what the GAT is for—it provides a separate pathway for admission to GITAM University regardless of your performance in other national or state-level exams.

Results are released phase-wise. According to the current 2026 schedule, the Phase 3 results are expected to be announced on April 19 or 21, 2026, following the exam on April 16–19. If you are strictly looking for CSE/IT, you should also consider these colleges in Rajasthan where your 88.85 percentile is very safe:
MBM Jodhpur: High chance for IT; moderate for CSE.
RTU Kota (University Dept.): High chance for CSE/IT.
Government Engineering College (GEC), Ajmer/Bikaner: Very high chance for CSE/AI-DS.

Yes, it is absolutely possible. In India, there is no upper age limit for pursuing an M.E./M.Tech. Your experience is actually a major advantage for specialized research and leadership roles.
What you can do:
Entrance Exams: Appear for GATE (No age limit) to get into IITs/NITs, or state exams like TANCET (for Tamil Nadu).
Study Mode: * Part-Time M.E.: Many state universities offer 3-year programs for working professionals.
Sponsored Seats: If employed, apply through the "Sponsored" category in top institutes.
Direct Admission: Several private universities offer admission based on your B.E. marks and an interview.
Why do it at 40?
