One can take a B.Tech course laterally, whereby a Diploma or a B.Sc. with Math can directly enter into the 2 and or even 3 rd year of the engineering degree. The criteria are normally 3 years Diploma in a discipline of engineering or B.Sc. (Mathematics), minimum aggregate percentage (45-60% majorly). Most institutes have their admissions through the lateral entry entrance examinations at the state (the state entrance exams are LEET^ {6} or BCECE LE^ {7} etc.) or institution level and after that the counselling.
