Must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).
Minimum aggregate in PCM/overall, respectively:
General Category 50%
BC/BC-Muslim: 45%
MBC/DNC/SC/ST: 40%
Admission through TNEA counselling is eligible for aided seats, not through direct private management entry.

To join Merchant Navy, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) are required in 12th and most colleges require a minimum of 60% marks. If you have scored less in 12th, some options are still open:
Take Improvement Exam (next year) and improve your marks to get eligibility.
Some private maritime institutes also take those with 40–50% marks—but their placement is not that strong.
Alternative: You can do GP Rating Course (General Purpose Rating), for which eligibility is a little less (10th/12th pass with 40%+).
Once you get entry in Merchant Navy, you can grow later with experience.
