With 86.17 percentile (rank ~2,15,000) in JEE Main under EWS category and home state Delhi, you have realistic chances for Civil Engineering in newer NITs, IIITs, and Delhi state government colleges. Top NITs are not possible, but mid-tier and state options are open.

Government College Options for Civil Engineering

1. NITs (via JoSAA)

  • NIT Agartala, NIT Arunachal Pradesh, NIT Mizoram, NIT Nagaland, NIT Manipur, NIT Srinagar
    • Civil Engineering cutoffs often extend beyond 2 Lacs rank for reserved categories.
    • You have a fair chance in later rounds.

2. IIITs (via JoSAA)

  • IIIT Una, IIIT Bhagalpur, IIIT Kottayam, IIIT Ranchi
    • Mostly for CSE/ECE, b

No,  Vishwakarma Government Engineering College (VGEC), Ahmedabad does not allow direct admission without an entrance exam. Admission is strictly through GUJCET (Gujarat Common Entrance Test) or JEE Main, followed by ACPC counselling. Seats are allotted based on merit rank, category, and choice filling. There is no management quota or direct entry route in VGEC since it is a government institution. If you want admission without an entrance exam, you would need to consider private universities in Gujarat or Rajasthan where Class 12 marks or direct admission options are available.

With 93.95 percentile in JEE Main (EWS category), your rank is around 65,000–70,000, which gives you realistic chances in newer NITs, some IIITs, and state government colleges.

🎓 Government Colleges You Can Target

  • Newer NITs: NIT Agartala, NIT Arunachal Pradesh, NIT Mizoram, NIT Nagaland, NIT Manipur, NIT Srinagar – possible for branches like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and sometimes IT/ECE.
  • IIITs: IIIT Una, IIIT Bhagalpur, IIIT Kottayam, IIIT Ranchi – CSE/ECE may be possible in later rounds.
  • State Government Colleges: Through Rajasthan REAP, UPSEE, Maharashtra CAP, Andhra Pradesh EAPCET – strong chance for CSE/IT/ECE.

Your VSAT 2026 rank of 8,255 is qualified, but it places you in the middle-to-lower range of the merit list.

 What This Means

  • Eligibility: Yes, you are eligible for admission since VSAT ranks up to ~30,000 are considered.
  • Top Branches (CSE/IT/AI): Usually close around ranks 2,000–5,000. At 8,255, it will be difficult to get these in the first round.
  • Mid-tier Branches (ECE, EEE, Mechanical): More realistic at your rank.
  • Other Branches (Civil, Biotechnology, Chemical): Higher chance of allotment.

VSAT 2025 Closing Rank Trends (Approx.)

BranchClosing Rank
CSE (Main Campus)~4,500
IT/AI/DS~6,000
ECE~9,000
Mechanical~12,000
Civil/Biotech~15,000+

 Next Steps

  1. Participate in Counseling: You are qualified, so register for VSAT counseling.

Newton, Scaler, and Polaris are all new-age private tech schools with strong industry-focused curricula, but their degree recognition differs: Newton and Polaris offer UGC-recognized B.Tech degrees (through partner universities), while Scaler primarily provides certifications with parallel degree tie-ups. If your priority is a formally recognised degree for government jobs or higher studies, Newton or Polaris are safer; if your focus is cutting-edge curriculum and placements, Scaler has stronger industry immersion.

With a JEE Main rank of ~13,00,000, admission to government engineering colleges through JoSAA (NITs, IIITs, GFTIs) is not possible. Even the lowest closing ranks for Civil/Mechanical in newer NITs or GFTIs usually end around 7–8 Lacs rank.

 Where You Still Have Chances

1. State Government Colleges (via State Counseling)

  • Many state-level engineering admissions (like REAP Rajasthan, HSTES Haryana, UPSEE/UPCET, Maharashtra CAP) accept students with ranks above 10 lakh.
  • Branches possible: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Mining, Production Engineering.
  • CSE/IT is very unlikely in government colleges at this rank.

2. Private Universities
