As per various translation agencies,  Dutch, Frisian, and German are the nearest possible languages to English. Frisian is the closest to English language. It is said that both languages share a similar syntax, lexicon, and phonetics.

Applicants who wish to learn an additional language after English, can consider learning any of these languages.
