The scope of environmental sociology in the modern world is wide as it focuses on various areas such as ecological aspects, conservation of natural resources, pollution, impacts of the human population on the environment, etc. 

Some of the major issues related to the environment nowadays are global warming, ozone depletion, deforestation, disposal of wastes, and desertification. The growing problems highlight the need for more attention towards this area.
