GATE Application Form

Candidates can apply for GATE 2026 once the registration link is activated. The link will be available for a specific timeline. 

• First, the conducting authority, the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, launches the GATE 2026 official website along with the GATE dates. The official website of GATE 2026 is gate2026.iitg.ac.in. The GATE 2026 exam dates are OUT.
• The GATE 2026 information brochure will be updated on the website soon (expected first week of August). 
• As mentioned before, the information brochure will carry all the important details regarding the exam, such as GATE 2026 exam dates, registration timeline, eligibility criteria, steps to apply, exam centre details, two-paper combination and more. 
• After the release of the website and GATE information bulletin, the authorities will activate the GATE registration link 2026 on the prescribed dates. 
• During that phase, candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will be able to register and fill out the GATE application form through the link activated at the GOAPS portal. Registrations for GATE 2026 will be made available from August 25 onwards.

Yes, candidates can edit their GATE 2026 application form on GOAPS portal. The portal offers correction window after the GATE 2026 registration process. The last date to make changes is November 6. The GATE 2026 application form correction facility will be available for a specific timeline (2 to 3 days) for candidates to make changes in their application form. 

Candidates can edit the following -

• Name
• Date of Birth
• Choice in examination cities
• Change in exisiting cities
• Adding paper combination (from the given list)
• Change of gender to female
• Change from female to any other gender
• Change of category from SC/ST to any other.
• Change from Non-PWD/ Dyslexic to PWD/Dyslexic
• Change from PWD/ Dyslexic to Non PWD/Dyslexic

To make any changes in the GATE application form 2026, candidates need to pay a fee of INR 500 through netbanking/credit card/debit card/UPI. Candidates must note that, once the deadline for form correction facility is over, candidates cannot make further edits in their GATE registration form. 

To register for GATE 2026, candidates need to visit the official GATE GOAPS portal, which is now activated. IIT Guwahati has released the GATE 2026 official notification along with the official website. Candidates can follow the steps below to access the GOAPS portal for GATE registration -

• Firstly, candidates have to create a login using their full name, a valid email ID, and mobile number. Make sure to provide the contact number and email address that is active, as all notifications will be sent there. 
• Once the registration is completed, candidates will receive a GATE enrollment ID and an OTP for verification. 
• Candidates need to create a password and log in using the credentials created - GATE enrollment and Password.
• After logging in to the GATE GOAPS 2026 portal, candidates need to fill out their personal, educational qualification, and exam-related details. 
• After entering all the necessary details, they have to upload their documents as per the specifications. The documents include- passport-size photograph, scanned signature, category/PwD certificate (optional). 
• Once all of the above is completed, proceed to pay the GATE application fees 2026. 
• Keep a copy of the receipt and submit the GATE 2026 application form. 

Make sure to save and take a printout of the submitted application form for future reference. 

GOAPS is also known as the GATE online application processing system. It is a common portal for all GATE-related activities. The GATE GOAPS portal is used for the following -

• Registering
• Application form correction
• Downloading of the admit card
• View and raise objections
• Check result
• Download scorecard, etc. 

The GATE GOAPS portal 2026 is managed by the Indian Institute of Guwahati. The portal is created for ensuring streamlined and transparent admission process. To access the GOAPS portal, one has to create an enrollment ID and password. 

The GATE 2026 official portal is LIVE from August 28 onwards. The gate2026.iitg.ac.in exam dates have been released. Candidates can check the GATE exam dates NOW. 

The GATE 2026 registration is likely to start in August 2025 (fourth week) as per the last year timeline. The registration link will be activated on the GOAPS 2026 portal, which will be activated on the website. The GATE 2026 registration due date will be available for different deadlines, which will updated along with the GATE 2026 official notification and information brochure. Before the registration dates hit on the website, it is important for the aspirants to keep all their documents and data ready to avoid last-minute hustle. 

Here are some major documents that will be required for GATE 2026 registration process -

• Recent passport sized photographs
• Scanned signature (as per the specifications)
• Updated valid ID, such as Aadhar card, PAN Card, Driving License, Voter ID etc.
• Category certificate (if applicable).

The GATE application process is divided into different sections - registration, filling out the details, uploading of the documents, and payment mode of the application form. Here is the list of details that are required at the time of filling the GATE application form-

• For GATE candidate registration - valid email ID, mobile number and name of the applicant
• Personal information - (candidate's name, date of birth, mobile number, parent's name, parent's mobile number, etc.)
• Communication details - address including the PINCODE
• Educational Qualification details -School and graduation degree details, college name and address with PINCODE
• GATE exam details - GATE paper options and examination cities
• A recent photograph and signature as per the specifications.
• Scanned copy of the documents - Valid ID proof, category certificate, PwD certificate, Dyslexic certificate (in PDF format)
• Scribe requirement details
