There are two shift timings for the GATE exam. Candidates can find the details of the shift timing on the official website. The GATE shift timings are as follows -
- Forenoon - 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
- Afternoon - 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm
Candidates can also find the exam timing details mentioned in the GATE admit card. Candidates are advised to appear for the GATE 2026 exam on the date prescribed in the hall ticket.

The official website of GATE is gate2026.iitg.ac.in. The website carries complete details regarding the GATE examination, such as dates, registration process, pattern, syllabus, fees, and more. It is advised to go through all the details carefully before applying. Registrations for GATE are now OPEN on the website. The last date to apply without late fees is October 6 and with late fees is October 9.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, will be conducting the GATE 2026 exam. The dates are OUT now. IIT Guwahati last conducted the GATE exam in 2018. Candidates who want to apply for M.Tech or any research programmes can apply for GATE. The application window is available till October 6 without late fees (revised), and the exam will be conducted on February 7, 8, 14, and 15.

The GATE exam is conducted for 30 subject test papers. The list of branches/subjects can be checked on the official website of GATE along with the paper codes. Candidates must check the GATE paper codes carefully and add them while filling out the GATE application form.

No, to apply GATE exam, it is mandatory to appear for BTech or BE in any of the engineering disciplines. So, if you are pursuing Diploma in civil engineering, then you need to complete a BTech or BE degree first in the relevant field. Direct Diploma entry is not applicable for the GATE.

NIT Sikkim GATE cutoff 2025 has been released for admissions to various M.Tech courses. The GATE 2025 cutoff ranged from 359 to 526 for the General AI category candidates, wherein M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering was the most competitive, followed by M.Tech in Data Science & Engineering, with a cutoff score of 526 and 499, respectively. Therefore, for admission to NIT Sikkim 2025, students would need to secure at least 359 or higher to secure a seat. Please note that this cutoff is only applicable for the General AI category; other categories will have different qualifying scores accordingly.

The GATE 2026 answer key will be released in the first week of March. First, the IIT Guwahati will release the provisional question paper and answer key, where candidates will be able to challenge and raise objections. Then after, the authorities will publish the final GATE answer key, based on which the result will be announced. Candidates can download the GATE 2026 answer key at gate2026.iitg.ac.in.

OBC-NCL and EWS category candidates are not required to submit or upload any documents or certificates while filling out the GATE 2026 application form. The last date to submit the GATE application form is September 28 (without late fees) and October 9 (with late fees).

IIT Guwahati will conduct the GATE 2026 exam on February 7, 8, 14, and 15. The exam will be held in two sessions- forenoon (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) and afternoon (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm).

The GATE 2025 cutoff has been out for admission to various M.Tech programs. With a score of 642, your chances of admission are extremely favourable, as the cutoff ranged from 360 to 432 for the General AI category candidates, with various branches closing their admissions in the early rounds.
