GMAT preparation takes around 5 months. The minimum required time is 3 months. But this will vary from individual to individual. People with job and little time to devote to studies will require more than 5 months to prepare.

First, you need to know the difference between the two programs and match with your career plans. Which one is better will depend on your career plans. MIM is Information Management while MEM is Engineering Management, know what you want and then compare. Learn about career outcomes of both the programs, since you are an engineer MEM will suit you better but you should be knowing what is best for you and it's your personal choice. Decide accordingly.
