GMRIT is quite famous for providing excellent facilities to the students. This of course costs money. The fees is around Rs.1.15L per annum. I am attaching a link that will give you all the required information about different aspects of the college.

I am from GMR. It was the best college in the locality with a unique infrastructure and good faculty. The highest package was around 12-15 lacs per annum and the average was 2.5 lacs.

According to me, that depends on your interest. If you are interested in Mechanical and took admission in Information Technology, then that would be an absurd thing to do. I would suggest you to do what interest you and you are good at. But, as per placement wise go for Computer Science Sector or IT firm. Even associate software engineers are getting a good package. There is a good placement, but fewer people were placed in the campus interviews selection. The companies that are coming are L&T, Wipro, IBM. Some years back, Wipro and Infosys also came.
