Hi,
From your question, it is not clear whether you wish to pursue IPS or you wish to pursue criminology? Both are very different courses and exams are different too.

It is the highest reputed exam for the direct officer level entry job in India. There is no exam which makes you an officer with higher rank than IAS. Success ratio is very less. Very tough exam and procedures.
All the best.

As an NDA aspirant you can opt for the CDS as in that you can have some technical knowledge and then you can build new and innovative things that can help forces to grow and can move matching shoulders with the world.

Hi Ayush, Most batches generally start in either July or October and the process continues till about a month before the pre-exam. Then some institutes (e. g. Vajiram & Ravi) hold Mains specific classes after the foundation classes for a few weeks. Plus, the classes are held generally 7 days a week in the good institutes, amounting to 2-3 hours daily.
