If you want to crack IAS exam then you should choose BA because with BA, you don't need to study hard, you can easily pass out with BA without much effort, but if you will choose B.Sc then you need to study hard and you'll not get time for IAS preparations.

Hello Vishnupriya, It's very nice and good to know that you have already set your aim of passing civil service exam. Degree in any discipline is the criteria. I would strongly advise you to choose that subject in which you have interest or which fascinates you. This will help you in UPSC exam also.

In UPSC civil exams, most of the topics are from humanity subject. If you do BA in political science, that will be a good option in spite of doing B.Sc or B.Tech. B.Sc is also a good option after BA.

A Scoring Optional:
Most IAS beginners choose an optional simply because it is considered scoring. Some of the optionals that are considered scoring are Public Administration and Geography. While Geography has returned marks with 400+ in IAS Mains, many candidates have been scoring 340+ and 350+ in Public Administration in the past few years. But should score be the sole criteria for selecting the Mains optional or are there other related for selecting your Mains

Hi buddy,
You cannot do this at same time. For NDA with PCM, you also have to study history, geography, economics, biology, English and General Knowledge. And all these subjects require time.

If your aim is to join civil services, then B.A. will be best for you. You will get the UG degree in a short span of 3 years, and then you can appear for the exam. Going for an engineering degree is not suggested, because it will take 4 years and in most cases a year of drop after class 12th is required. Just join Government College, it is better to go for any 3 year UG course and prepare for UPSC with full power. I will suggest you to go for B.A. .
