IELTS Scores

New Jersey Institute of Technology admissions acknowledges TOEFL, IELTS, and PTE scores as proof of English language capability. International candidates (whose native tongue isn’t English) are also expected to display English language proficiency. The first-year students applying to 2024 Intake can choose not to submit SAT or ACT scores, it does not apply to Albert Dorman Honors College or accelerated programme applicants. Students who have taken the SAT or ACT are encouraged to submit test scores to be considered for endowed scholarships where scores may be required. However, if the student does not submit SAT or ACT scores then that student will be considered for other scholarships.

The minimum requirements set by the university are as follows:

Vanderbilt University's admission requirements for international students comprise of English proficiency exam score as a major entry requirements. However, students can manage to secure admission in VU without an ELP score if they meet at least one of the criteria listed below:

• Completed three of the last four educational years in a majority English-speaking curriculum; OR
• SAT score: 630 & Above in Evidence-based Reading and Writing section; OR
• ACT score: 26 & Above.

Students who do not have any English proficiency scores may submit an English-language portfolio which should include a short description of past English language studies or speaking experience and a letter of recommendation from an English teacher. Vanderbilt University may also request a phone or Skype interview at the discretion of their admissions team.

Southern New Hampshire University admission requirements for international students include official English exam scores as a major entry requirement. However, prospective international students can study in SNHU without IELTS score if they provide at least one of the following documents listed below:

• Proof of a full academic year of high school in the U.S. with a passing grade in one year of standard English; OR
• Proof of successful completion of undergraduate post-secondary education in the US; OR
• Successful completion of the appropriate level based on current agreement terms at an English Pathway Partner; OR
• Successful completion of SNHU’s ESL program.

Note: At Southern New Hampshire University, applicants may be considered for an English proficiency test waiver on a case-by case basis at the discretion of SNHU International Admission.

University of Helsinki accepts major English proficiency exam scores as well as country-specific qualifications for their English language requirements on both the undegraduate and graduate level. Thus, Indian students can study in the University of Helsinki without ELP scores if they fulfill the criterion listed below:

• University degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree, or an equivalent polytechnic/university of applied Science degree) completed in English in India.

Candidates can also prove their English language skills with the language skills level test for University of Helsinki applicants. This test comprises of the following sections: Reading Comprehension, Grammar & Vocabulary, Writing and Oral Skills. The minimum requirement for the same is Average skills level 5 (C1), when using a scale from 1 to 6.
