For the linguistics portion, the depth you go depends on the exam's design. Since most competitive entrance tests (like CUET, BBA/BCom entrances, or even nursing/B.Ed related papers) treat linguistics as a language proficiency + applied grammar section, here's a structured way to decide:
How Deep to Prepare
Pattern-Based Prep (PYQs):
- Most exams ask memory-based, factual, and applied questions (synonyms, antonyms, sentence correction, comprehension, figures of speech).
- Practicing previous year papers (PYQs) helps you spot recurring question types and difficulty levels.
- This is usually sufficient for exams where linguistics is a support

| Want to stay in tech/coding | Branch | Take CSE/IT in a Tier-2/3 college over Civil in a Tier-1 college. |
| Aiming for non-tech roles | College | Take any branch in a Top-Tier college for the brand and network. |
| Confused about career | College | Go for the best possible brand; it gives you 4 years to explore. |

No, it's basically not possible.
The 5-year dual degree through UGEE (like at IIIT Hyderabad) has a completely separate admission process. If you join through JEE Main (B.Tech), you can't later switch into the UGEE dual-degree program.

The total marks of the IIITH UGEE is usually out of 150 marks (50 from SUPR and 100 from REAP). Candidate's performance in REAP is only evaluated if they clear qualifying cutoff in SUPR section.
