For BTech in CSE, IIT Guwahati has witnessed a fluctuating trend over the years for the General category students. The cutoff has decreased from 600 in 2021 to 589 in 2022, and then increased to 654 in 2023.JEE Advanced IIT Guwahati cutoff 2024

IIT Kharagpur, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Guwahati are three similarly-ranked Engineering institutes in India that are closely ranked by the NIRF Ranking Institution. Needless to say, these institutes have outstanding academic and placement achievements. Students look for informed decisions while choosing between the three. In CSE branch, IIT Bombay has a better placement rate as compared with IIT Guwahati. However, in the Chemical Engineering branch, IIT Guwahati has a slighter better placement rate than IIT Bombay. Students looking for the right course in the right college are majorly concerned about the placements they are going to receive after the course completion. In NIRF Engineering ranking 2023, IIT Guwahati is ranked at 7 and IIT Hyderabad is at 8th position. IIT Guwahati JAM Cutoff 2024 has been released for Round 2. The most competitive course as per the Cutoff was M.Sc in Mathematics and Computing, for the General AI category candidates, with the Cutoff of 75. For the OBC AI category candidates, the Cutoff for M.Sc in Mathematics and Computing stood at 148.
If not eligible for IIT Guwahati, candidates can opt for IIT Dhanbad with the linient cutoff of 401 or IIT Bhilai with a Cutoff of 511, for M.Sc in Mathematics and Computing for the General AI category candidates.

The ranking trend for the BTech category at IIT Guwahati has been quite impressive. In the NIRF 2025 rankings, the BE/BTech programme was ranked #8. According to the India Today 2021 ranking report, it was ranked #6 in the Engineering category. In the QS World University Rankings 2024, it secured the #111 position in the Science category. Additionally, The Week Ranking 2021 also placed it at #6 in the Engineering category. Overall, the rankings reflect consistent excellence in the BTech category at IIT Guwahati.
