Candidates can check the complete details below. This year, the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru (IISc Bengaluru) is conducting the GATE COAP counselling 2025. The Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) 2025 is the GATE counselling process portal for IIT admissions. Candidates with valid GATE scores for 2025/2024/2023 can register for COAP 2025. Before registering, candidates must go through the instructions and guidelines carefully.

Candidates must note that GATE COAP is not an application portal for MTech admission to any participating institute. Candidates should apply separately to the respective IITs for MTech admission / PSU for the job. COAP is just the portal where the IITs / PSUs upload their offers based on their selection criteria. Before applying to any institute/PSU, candidates must register for COAP, as providing the COAP 2025 registration number is mandatory to apply to any participating institute for their MTech programs. Commonly asked questions
Q:   Why is Retain and wait allowed only twice on a given offer in COAP?
A:

This rule is specifically brought in COAP 2020 to clear stratification. A candidate can choose “Retain and wait” on a specific offer only twice. For example, if institute ABCD offers you “Thermal Engineering” in Round 1, and you choose “Retain and Wait”, and if the same is offered in Round 2 and Round 3 as well,   the candidate will not have “Retain and Wait” option during Round 3. He/She has to choose either “Accept and Freeze” (or) “Reject All and Wait”, only.

Q:   What are the options available when I receive an offer of joining/admission in the FINAL (LAST) round of offers in COAP?
A:

After an offer of joining / admission is made in the Final / last round of offers, the candidates will have TWO options on the Online Application Portal. Candidate can select only one offer out of available offers. Candidate will have two options as described below.

  • Option 1: Accept and Freeze
  • Option 2: Reject All and Wait

Depending on the status of vacancies and merit list, there could  be further spot rounds by each of the participating institutes.

Q:   What are the options available when I receive an offer of joining/admission in COAP?
A:

After an admission offer is made (Excluding the Final / LAST round of offers), the candidates will have THREE options on the Online Application Portal. A candidate can select any one (only) offer out of the available offers. Candidate will have three options as described below:

  • Option 1: Accept and Freeze
  • Option 2: Retain and Wait
  • Option 3: Reject All and Wait

COAP 2025 Options for Offers

IISc Bangalore has released the Round I offer details on May 18. Candidates have the following options once they have offers in their COAP dashboard:

Option 1 - 'Accept and Freeze'

This option should be selected if a candidate is willing to accept one of the available offers and does not want to be considered for any other offers from other Institutes, if any. Candidates selecting this option WILL NOT be considered in the subsequent round(s) of admission in any of the participating academic Institutes and PSUs. After clicking the 'Accept and Freeze' option, the candidate should click the OK button to confirm the submission of his/her decision. Subsequently, the candidate should visit the respective Academic Institute's Admission Portal or PSU's Job Portal and follow the procedure as per the instructions on the respective website.

Option 2 - 'Retain and Wait'

This option should be selected if a candidate indicates his/her partial acceptance to any one of the available offers and also would like to be considered for any other offers in other institutes, if any, in the subsequent round(s) of offers. Candidates selecting this option WILL NOT be considered for the other rejected offers in the current round. However, if any higher preferred offer is made in the next round, then the existing 'Retain and Wait' offer will be released. A candidate can choose “Retain and Wait” on the same offer (same institute and same program) only twice. Nevertheless, the candidate will be considered for the subsequent round(s) of admission offered in the participating academic Institutes and PSUs. After clicking the 'Retain and Wait' option, the candidate should click OK to confirm the submission of the decision.

Option 3 - 'Reject All and Wait':

This option should be selected if the candidate is not willing to accept any of the offer(s) of admission/job in the current round. Nevertheless, the candidate will be considered for other preferences, if any, in the subsequent round(s) of admission offered in any participating academic Institutes and PSUs. Please note, that the same offer will not appear in the subsequent rounds as you have rejected this offer. After clicking the 'Reject All and Wait' option, the candidate should click OK to confirm the submission of the decision.

Freeze Decision (After Selecting Option 1, 2 or 3):

Candidates can select the choice from offers multiple times and press OK to confirm. After making the final choice, candidates have to click the Freeze button to complete the decision-making. Alternatively, the last selected choice of candidates will be frozen at the closure of the rounds. In case a candidate does not select any choice from the offers or does not visit the COAP portal as per the schedule of rounds, then all offers in that particular round will be treated as Reject All and Wait.

What if I Do Not select any option?

Candidates should visit the COAP Portal during each round of offers till the decision of "Accept and Freeze" is made by the candidate. If a candidate does not access the COAP or does not take a decision during a particular round of offers, then all offers made during that round will be considered as “Reject All and Wait” by the candidate.
