GATE COAP 2025: Registration Process, Seat Allotment, MTech Cutoff, etc.

COAP full form is the Common Offer Acceptance Portal, initiated in 2017. Candidates with valid GATE scores are required to register at COAP to access the offers by IITs for MTech or job offers from the PSUs. COAP provides the platform for the candidates to practice the choices of offers by the IITs/PSUs and allows the candidates to make informed choices.

Every year, the GATE organizing institute of the preceding year acts as the coordinating institute for COAP. The IITs that participate in COAP are IISc Bangalore, IIT Bhilai, IIT Bhubaneshwar, IIT BHU, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Dharwad, IIT Goa, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, IIT Jammu, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Mandi, IIT Palakkad, IIT Patna, IIT Roorkee, IIT Ropar, IIT Gandhinagar and IIT Tirupati.

IISc has released the GATE COAP counselling dates on its official website. Candidates can find the GATE COAP 2025 counselling schedule (round-wise) REVISED below -

Candidates who have qualified in the GATE exam and want to get admission at IITs must register at COAP. The registration process can be checked below -

• First, candidates must provide following details: GATE registration number, highest score at Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, date of birth, e-mail address, and mobile number.
• Eligible GATE scores include: 2025, 2024, and 2023
• Through COAP 2025 registration, candidates can also apply for PSU job offers through participating institutes. 
• GATE COAP registration is successful only when the credentials are sent to the candidate's registered email ID and password. The email ID will have the URL along with login ID and SMS will contain the password.
• While filling COAP application form, students have to enter all their valid GATE scores and enter required details. 
• Students must note that the authorities do not provide any correction facility. Therefore, ensure that all information (provided) is correct.
• In addition, keep GATE 2026 admit card safe till COAP seat allotment and counselling process.

Candidates who have qualified GATE are only eligible to participate for COAP counselling. The detailed eligibility condition can be checked below -

• Must hold Indian nationality
• Candidate must have a valid scorecard, to check GATE result, candidates have to visit GATE login and enter their credentials - enrollment ID and password.
• Students who have more than one scorecard, must submit the scorecard that has better rank.
• Candidates must go through guidelines and instructions carefully before participating in GATE COAP counselling process. 

Candidates who meet the COAP eligibility must register to participate in counselling process. 

COAP Counselling Eligibility for IIT Graduate/Graduate Student

Students graduation or graduated from IITs with a valid GATE scorecard (2025, 2024, or 2023) must register at COAP portal.

On the other hand, for students graduating or gradduated from IIT with a BTech degree and CGPA 8.0 or higher can apply directly at the respective institutes for MTech admission. No COAP registration is required.

The admission process via COAP is done in the following way -

• Register online according to the dates mentioned. Only candidates who have registered can get admissions to IITs
• Candidates must apply separately to the respective IITs for MTech admission. During the registration phase, candidates have to enter their COAP registration number
• The COAP counselling process is done in different rounds. Applicants can check the updates regarding the activity and seat allotment on their dashboard
• After each round, candidates have to make a decision - accept and freeze or retain and wait or reject all the above and wait and confirm it by clicking OK
• Keep visiting the website for the latest updates, and complete the stages to confirm your admission
• The additional rounds in COAP are done to fill leftover seats

What is a decisive round in COAP?

Decisive round in COAP is also called as final main round. Only two options are available under this: "accept and freeze" and "reject"

COAP IIT admission was done in several rounds. Candidates who registered for the COAP counselling were eligible to participate in the counselling round. The Common Offer Acceptance Portal had 5 main rounds and 5 additional rounds. The COAP round 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 were treated as independent and decisive, where students will have only two options to consider - accept and freeze and reject. The mode of counselling and comprises different stages.
